Marktplatz Lernapps · Austria only
Typewriter EDU — officially reviewed.
One licence per student, no school administration, special lessons for the Austrian Digital Basic Education curriculum. Procured directly through the BMBWF’s Marktplatz Lernapps catalogue.
What is Typewriter EDU?
Typewriter EDU is the Austria-specific variant of Typewriter, procured via Marktplatz Lernapps, the catalogue run by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. It is aimed at individual teachers and schools that want to start without administrative overhead — one licence per student, no tenant setup.
EDU is ready to go straight away — no own instance, no setup, but with supplementary lessons for the Austrian curriculum Digitale Grundbildung. If you want your own school instance with branding, choose the Plus or Pro version.

For central school administration, your own branding and analytics for school leadership the Plus version is the right choice — for a dedicated database, custom assessment system and cross-school analytics, see the Pro version.
Curriculum alignment
Extra lessons for Digital Basic Education.
With the introduction of the compulsory subject Digitale Grundbildung in Austrian lower secondary school (grades 5–8), the BMBWF set out mandatory competencies around keyboard and text creation. Typewriter EDU contains lesson packages that cover these areas systematically — beyond the standard course.

Two steps to ready
How to procure Typewriter EDU.
Since the 2026/27 school year the Marktplatz Lernapps is in regular operation — with annual licences and no separate school registration.
- 1
Enable teachers in the Bildungsportal
In regular operation all lower and upper secondary schools are automatically eligible to order — no separate school registration needed. School leadership enables the ordering teachers in the Bildungsportal.
- 2
Order Typewriter EDU in the catalogue
During the ordering period (1 September – 25 October 2026) specify the number of licences (= students who should get access). An annual licence runs until 31 August 2027; billing is handled centrally by the OeAD — no additional cost to the school.
No code distribution
Automatic licence management via the Bildungsportal.
Once your school has ordered Typewriter EDU on the Marktplatz Lernapps, students receive their access automatically — through sign-in with the Bildungsportal. Teachers no longer have to distribute or redeem licence codes.
Sign in with the Bildungsportal
Students sign in with their Bildungsportal account. An existing Typewriter account can be linked; new accounts are created via the class’s student code.
Licence applies automatically
The ordered licence is checked at every sign-in and is valid for the running school year — until 31 August. If an order is cancelled, access ends automatically.
Overview for teachers
The class list shows at a glance which students are already covered by a Bildungsportal licence — so no codes are handed out twice.
