NEW: Updates to the grading system in the SZ version
The cantonal SZ version gets a more flexible grading system with optional traffic-light colours, new badges and an updated guide.
We’re excited to share the latest changes in the cantonal SZ version. These updates are designed to make the assessment process even more flexible and user-friendly and to support your valuable work as a teacher.
One of the most significant new features is the introduction of an alternative assessment system. Alongside the traditional numeric grades you can now use an assessment system with traffic-light colours. Students receive coloured feedback on lessons and exercises (red for insufficient, orange, yellow or green). For summative tests the classic numeric grading remains in place.
To meet the needs of children with colour-vision impairments we’ve added matching smileys to the feedback. This extra visual cue ensures all students can read the assessment clearly.
Another important point concerns the assessment period for grades 4, 5 and 6. It is now set uniformly to one year and no longer needs to be configured manually.
We’ve also introduced a number of new badges that students can earn for particular achievements and progress. These badges are meant to boost motivation and make learning successes visible.
The guide has been revised to reflect the new features and changes and is available to you.
What hasn’t changed: the program does not set the touch-typing grade automatically — the teacher still does, based on a variety of assessment occasions. And the rule still holds that the report-card grade is composed half of a touch-typing grade and half of a handwriting grade.
We’re confident these changes will help you accompany and support your students’ learning even better. If you have questions or suggestions, we’re happy to help.
Thank you for your commitment — we wish you every success with the new Typewriter Schwyz version.
