Lehrmittelverlag takes over licensing and introduces new features

From August 2024 the cantonal Lehrmittelverlag takes over licensing of Typewriter in the St. Gallen version — with per-student licences and features for all school levels.

Dear users,

ahead of the upcoming school year 24/25 we want to share important news on using Typewriter in the cantonal St. Gallen version.

From August 2024 the cantonal Lehrmittelverlag takes over the licensing of Typewriter (sg.typewriter.ch). Until now the Department of Education and the Association of St. Gallen Compulsory-Education Bodies were in charge. First and foremost: Typewriter’s familiar features will not change. You can continue to use Typewriter as before. All classes, performance data and program settings stay in place and you continue to access the same application.

We’re delighted that this new partnership lets all school levels benefit from the St. Gallen version. The new program version also brings several valuable features for lower secondary school.

The key change concerns licensing itself. Per-student licences are now required, assigned to individual students. An assigned licence is then tied to that specific student. The new licence runs for 14 months and currently costs CHF 3.5 (as of July 2024; CHF 3 per year). Teachers don’t need licences.

Already-registered students will be migrated to the new licence system on 15 July 2024. Until then the system can be used as before.

For questions or concerns about these changes, both the Lehrmittelverlag and Typewriter support are happy to help. Our goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible and to ensure the change has no negative impact on your day-to-day teaching.

We value your support of Typewriter and look forward to a successful school year with innovative teaching and learning methods.
